MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish Swatches and Review

By  |  12 Comments

Extra Dimension Skinfinishes are multi-use liquid powders that were introduced in MAC’s Magnetic Nude Collection on December 26, 2013.  MAC describes this skinfinish as “a liquid-powder highlighter with prismatic reflections that sculpts, highlights and models the face. The cool, creamy near-fluid formula creates a luminous, well-defined finish. Wears 10 hours.”

This is the first skinfinish I have ever tried, and I am delightfully amazed!  I bought the color “Magnetic Appeal” which is a bronzey medium tan with a fine gold sheen.  It also comes in 2 other colors:  Superb (soft peachy nude with multidimensional shimmer) and Fairly Precious (peach with dimensional pearly sheen).

So what exactly does this Extra Dimension Skinfinish do?  It blows your mind.

You can wear it as is for a simple, quick eyeshadow, OR you can apply it with water to give it a foiled look.

Used dry as a basic eyeshadow:

Used wet on the lower lid for more intense color:

It can also be used as a bronzer, highlighter, or blush , depending on the shade you choose.  The possibilities are endless!  Here is a swatch of Extra Dimension Skinfinish in the color Magnetic Appeal:

I love the radiant glow this skinfinish gives.  It’s such a versatile product! It can be applied with a light hand for subtle effects, or applied heavier with or without water for a more color intense, dramatic look. It applies easily, lasts all day, and looks GREAT even on my extra dry skin.  Hopefully this product will become a part of the permanent line, or at least be reintroduced often!  $30.00 at MACcosmetics.com

Do you use any of MAC’s skinfinishes?  Which one is your favorite and why?

That’s my favorite thing about it too! One product, several uses. Talk about getting your money’s worth!

I’ve never tried the MAC finishing products but this one looks pretty neat. I do love their powder though. I’ll def be on the lookout for this the next time I visit the MAC counter.

LaVonndra, I can’t walk by the MAC counter without stopping in lol. There is a skinfinish in the Divine Nights collection that I simply MUST have, but it’s always sold out. I can’t remember the color, but I sooooo need it. It’s a pinky, pearly, rosey, goldy color…

This looks like a pretty multi-use product. I have never tried the skinfinishes other than the natural skinfinish powder. Looks like it would be perfect for highlighting on so many different skin tones.

Aria that’s exactly what I love about it. The versatility! It will flatter just about every skin tone there is.

My “MAC arsenal” is pretty small, mostly because I don’t like their prices. But there are a few items from them that are must haves! I’d say this is one. 🙂 Let me know if you get it!

Thanks Antionette! I’m a pretty frugal chick but this one is a must have. 5 or more uses in one product for only $30? Awesome!! After you try it, let me know what you think!
