Splurge vs Save: Drugstore Makeup Dupes for High End Brands

By  |

It feels good to spoil yourself and splurge on high-end makeup items every now and then, but sometimes it’s more economical to opt for the less expensive alternative. I have rounded up some of the cheaper dupes of the most sought after high-end products. Read on to find out what they are!

MAC Heroine is a splurge at $15 per tube.  Maybelline Brazen Berry is a big lighter, and is not as matte, but is a steal at only $7! Maybelline Violet Intrigue is a PERFECT dupe, but was limited edition and is no longer sold.

MAC RiRi Woo is nearly always sold out, and comes with a hefty $15 price tag. You can get that same vibrant red with a gorgeous matte finish for half the price! Revlon Really Red Matte is $7, and Rimmel Kate Moss Matte “Kiss of Life” is only $6!

MAC Rebel ($15) has a slightly more purple undertone, but this is still a great dupe. Wet N’ Wild Sugar Plum Fairy ($2) is a STEAL! It’s long wearing and super pigmented.

NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna ($41) and Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzing Duo in St. Lucia ($3) is the most popular and well known dupe.  The only difference is the price tag! And what a difference it is!

smashbox-vs-elfSmashbox Photofinish Primer ($36) vs Elf Mineral Infused Face Primer ($6).  They both work the same, but you can save $30 by opting for Elf. And remember, with primer, a little goes a long way!

Armani Maestro Fusion Foundation ($62) and L’Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation ($13) are both made by the same company, so it’s no surprise that these two products are dupes. They both give a flawless, matte finish.

MAC All That Glitters Eyeshadow ($15) vs Covergirl Mink Eyeshadow ($3).
See Beautiful unNecessities for swatches and a side by side comparison of MAC and Covergirl. They’re nearly identical!

I’ve never heard of Kate lipstick and I had no idea I could get the same results as MAC. I wear Ruby Woo daily and love it, I’ll have to try out Kate. Thanks!

The Kate Moss line by Rimmel is sold in Walgreens and Walmart (probably other places too, but those are the 2 I’ve personally seen them sold). I like that it comes in matte, which makes it an even closer dupe to RiRi Woo!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! 🙂
